Fedora Linux
Protect applications and services that run on Fedora Linux systems.
Overview
Fedora Linux is a free and open-source operating system from the Fedora Project. Fedora publishes editions for servers, cloud systems, workstations, container hosts, and edge systems.
Teams use Fedora Linux for private development services, APIs, and administration tools. A shared access layer avoids duplicate sign-in work in every application.
Fedora Linux supplies the runtime or deployment environment. Pomerium runs in that environment and supplies the identity-aware access point for selected services.
Prerequisites
- A supported Linux host that can accept the user-facing route and reach the private upstream service.
- DNS, TLS, identity-provider configuration, protected secrets, and durable storage where the selected design requires it.
How it works
Run Pomerium Core on a supported Linux host in the environment. Install the official package, standalone binary, or container. Configure DNS, TLS, identity, route policy, storage, and replicas for the selected design.
Install Pomerium Core from the official RPM repository with DNF. Pomerium also publishes standalone Linux binaries and Docker images. Place Pomerium where it can accept the public route and reach the private service.
Check service health, DNS, TLS, required storage and replicas, and upstream reachability. Confirm that a direct public route cannot bypass Pomerium.
Example
An internal build dashboard runs on a Fedora Server virtual machine. Pomerium runs on a connected Fedora Linux gateway and forwards approved requests to the dashboard.
Considerations
- Pomerium does not manage Fedora packages, patches, SELinux policy, or host firewall rules.
