Windows 11
Use a browser or Pomerium Desktop on Windows 11 to reach protected services, with Pomerium Core on a supported host.
Overview
Windows 11 is Microsoft's client operating system. A user can access Pomerium-protected HTTP applications in a browser. Pomerium Desktop for Windows can connect to protected TCP and UDP services.
Windows users can reach selected private web, TCP, and UDP services without broad network access and without running the Pomerium server on the client system.
Windows 11 supplies the protected service, client, or surrounding network. Pomerium runs on a supported adjacent platform and supplies the identity-aware access point.
Prerequisites
- A server-side Pomerium deployment that protects the selected service.
- A supported browser for HTTP access or Pomerium Desktop for the approved TCP or UDP route.
How it works
Run Pomerium Core on a supported server environment. Use a browser for HTTP routes or Pomerium Desktop for approved TCP and UDP routes from the client system.
Run Pomerium Core on a supported Linux or macOS host, container platform, or Kubernetes cluster. Use a browser for HTTP access and install Pomerium Desktop for approved non-HTTP routes. If a development service runs on Windows 11, place Core on an adjacent supported host.
Test the browser or Pomerium Desktop path with an allowed request and a denied request. Confirm that Pomerium Core remains on a separate supported server environment.
Example
A developer uses Windows 11 and Pomerium Desktop to connect to a private database. Pomerium authenticates the developer and opens the local tunnel only when route policy passes.
Considerations
- Pomerium does not publish a Windows Core binary.
- Pomerium Desktop is a client and does not replace the server-side Pomerium deployment.
