Overview
Jira Data Center is the self-managed Jira product for enterprise deployments. It exposes a web interface and REST APIs. Use this route for Jira Data Center.
Jira Data Center can expose sensitive application data or administrative functions. A Pomerium route adds identity-aware policy before a user reaches the selected endpoint while the service keeps its own detailed permissions.
Pomerium controls who can establish the selected route to Jira Data Center. Jira Data Center remains responsible for its application, protocol, data, and service-level permissions.
How it works
Create a Pomerium HTTPS route for the selected private HTTP endpoint. Configure the application public URL and trusted proxy settings for the Pomerium origin.
Keep application authentication and granular authorization active when the service needs them. Give API and automation clients a reviewed noninteractive authentication path.
Configure the Jira base URL and reverse-proxy connector for the Pomerium origin. Keep Jira application links, webhooks, API clients, and automation on supported authentication paths.
Example
Employees use a Pomerium HTTPS route for a private Jira Data Center deployment. Jira keeps project roles, issue permissions, workflow rules, and administrator permissions.
Considerations
- Atlassian Server support ended on February 15, 2024. Use Jira Data Center for this route.
- Atlassian states that Data Center reaches end of life on March 28, 2029. Review the product lifecycle before a new deployment.
